Last Updated: 27 October 2020

We’re still here to support your fostering journey.

Following latest government guidelines regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we have made some alterations to our usual service to ensure the safety of both our fostering team and the public.

Changes to our Information Visits

Our fostering team is working remotely and we are currently offering all our information visits over the phone for anyone wanting to find out more about fostering for Fostering Rotherham and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Changes to our Home Visits

You can choose to have your follow up appointment either by video call using Microsoft Teams (free service) or face to face at your home (where COVID safe precautions can be observed).

It is really important for us to be able to meet people either in person or virtually before progressing an application to foster. It’s also necessary for us to meet with both members of a couple's household.

Therefore from the 27th October these visits will be offered face to face or virtually via Microsoft Teams. We’ve taken these steps to ensure we can continue to support your fostering journey, whilst ensuring we as a community keep safe.

Before a follow up appointment you will receive an email that outlines all the safety measures in place for the visit or joining instructions for the virtual appointment.

Changes to the Assessment Process

Our assessing fostering team is working remotely and therefore able to support your application and assessment to become a foster carer via virtual sessions. We are also inviting applicants to attend virtual skills to foster training as well.

If you have any concerns or queries please email us or call us on 01709 319887
