LGBT+ Fostering and Adoption Week 2020

 

Fostering Rotherham are proud to support New Family Social’s LGBT Adoption & Fostering Week, 2nd-8th March. This year the campaign’s theme is ‘Why not you?’, designed to tackle some of the myths that may deter LGBT+ people from fostering and adopting.

In 2019, 1 in 7 adoptions were to same sex couples, 490 in total which is the highest on record. We hope to see this trend increase further in the future in both adoption and fostering as more LGBT+ people open their minds to the idea, as we help to overcome the obstacles which may have put them off in the past.

In Rotherham, we are so proud of our LGBT+ community and their continued support for our fostering and adoption services.
