Sons and Daughters Month

Each October we join The Fostering Network in recognising, thanking and rewarding birth children and young people for the important role that they play in welcoming fostered children into their families, helping to ensure successful fostering placements. Here at Fostering Rotherham we’d like to say a huge “THANK YOU!” to all the children of our foster carers as we celebrate the important contributions they make.

Some potential foster carers say that the possible impact of fostering on their birth children is one of their major barriers to becoming a foster carer. However, birth children can really benefit from being part of the support network offered by a fostering family to a foster child. Seeing life from another perspective can be an enriching experience and can really help a child learn and develop as an individual; they may even make a lifelong friend in the process!

Throughout October we will be sharing stories about our fabulous sons and daughters here at Fostering Rotherham and the amazing part they play in ensuring that our children in care feel welcome, supported and part of a loving family.

Competition Time!

To celebrate Sons and Daughters Month we invite all Rotherham sons and daughters AND foster children to let loose with their creative skills to produce some artwork/ a poem/ a story/ a song/ a craft/ a baked good/ anything that represents why it is so FANTASTIC to be a part of a fostering family!

Please send in photographs of your entries, including first name and age, to us via Facebook messenger. Photos will be shared on social media, but we will blur out any faces and only use first names. The competition closes at 8pm on 31st October and there will be prizes for the lucky winners. Good look everyone!
